The first half of the Derby della Madonnina lived up to every expectation, delivering pure entertainment for the Rossoneri faithful. Amorim's Milan went into the break with a 3-1 lead, thanks to a blistering start and a breathtaking free-kick right on the stroke of half-time.
The deadlock was broken after just four minutes: a piece of brilliance on the right flank from Diego Moreira ended with a pinpoint cross for a clinical header from Christian Pulišić, giving Martínez no chance.
Just four minutes later came the second. From a low corner delivered from the left by Moreira, Rabiot conjured up a moment of magic: guiding a delicate, precise effort into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Inter tried to hit back and pulled one back through Bastoni, who rose highest to nod home from close range. Yet right at the end of the opening 45 minutes, Moreira stole the spotlight: curling a sensational free-kick straight into the top corner to restore Milan's two-goal cushion. A magnificent finish to put the icing on the cake of a dream first half for the Rossoneri.
