The New Zealand international's Wrexham career has been disrupted by repeated issues since joining from Italian club Empoli in the summer of 2025, limiting his game-time.
Cacace was restricted to 12 Championship appearances last season, spending a large amount of time on the sidelines as the Reds challenged for a play-off spot, but Sheaf insists there is no doubt about the quality he can bring when fully fit.
Having experienced his own injury setbacks, Sheaf has tried to offer support to Cacace - yet to feature this term - during a difficult period, although he believes the focus should not always be on the physical problem itself.
"The lads are all behind Libby. He's had a real tough sort of year-and-a-bit, I guess," said the midfielder, who made his first appearance of the season when he started the 2-1 home win over Southampton on September 19 but then sustained a groin injury during the international break and has missed the last three matches.
"But we all know what he's capable of and his ability when he's fit and firing, he's a top player.
"It's just one of those things, it's hard to put a finger on exactly what it could be but I've had my fair share of injuries and he's had his calf issues, so I've tried to help him as much as I can.
"But sometimes you don't want to focus too much on the injury, you want to focus on the person and don't want to highlight too much of what's going on in the body because that could just cause more tension and stress.
"Me and the lads have tried to kind of help him as much as we can in that sense."
