The incident happened in the Sir Alf Ramsey stand at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road stadium on Friday, shortly before the start of the match against Nottingham Forest.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called just before 8pm to a medical emergency at Portman Road in Ipswich.

"We dispatched two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle to assist the patient.

"An adult man was transported to Ipswich Hospital for further treatment."

Supporters praised the quick response from the club and medical teams.

An Ipswich Town fan said: "I just wanted to say how quick and professional the club and medical staff were, obviously well rehearsed hoping it should never be required.

"The club should be applauded for their actions, everyone knew their jobs."

The fan also offered their support to the individual affected.

They said: "I'm sure every supporter sends their best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery (Hopefully) for the person feeling unwell."
