Aston Villa are set to play host to Fulham at their home turf this weekend on Saturday at 8 pm.

Aston Villa are playing at home again this weekend for the league fixture against Fulham before travelling to Catalan in the midweek in the Champions League game. Unai Emery’s side’s unbeaten run ended abruptly yesterday following their defeat while visiting Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth. They were simply unable to cope with Marco Rose’s men’s intensity.

Villa might have not prioritised their campaign in the EFL League Cup but it was supposed to be the test for the players who rarely get regular minutes such as Lamare Bogarde, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Leon Goretzka, Marco Bizot and Alejandro Garnacho. They were expected to display their quality to deal with the challenge. Unfortunately, they have not been able to get past The Cherries.

Now it is high time to bounce back and continue the positive trend in the league and Champions League. Villa are bound to return to their winning team with their best starting IX. The team’s confidence must be restored before flying to Spain to take on Barcelona in the midweek.

The Lions are fairly superior in their head-to-head record against Fulham in the past six games. John McGinn and Co have won five out of six meetings while facing off The Cottagers. However, their last defeat was last season in Craven Cottagers. So, despite the managerial changes in their opposition side, Villa must remain careful, especially since they still have injured players and have tougher agenda ahead.
