Igor Paixao was the subject of strong interest from Sunderland over the summer. Olympique de Marseille’s owners were keen to facilitate a deal before Bruno Genesio’s strong opposition to the winger’s departure. He ultimately stayed, therefore, despite talks with the Premier League club, Get French Football News understands.

Whilst publicly, Paixao has said that he was happy to stay at OM this summer, Genesio has more recently suggested that his player “maybe hasn’t come to terms with” his aborted move to Wearside.

Paixao does dream of a Premier League move, and Mohamed Toubache-Ter has recently reported that he wants to leave Marseille during the upcoming January transfer window. Is the Brazilian now already planning for life in England?

In a post on Instagram earlier this week, Paixao’s wife posted an image on her story titled “English class”. She and Paixao were in the image on a video call with an English tutor. The Lussopone may, therefore, be looking ahead to a potential Premier League move.
