The Dallas Cowboys continue to have a shaky start to the season, and one ex-NFL player has blamed it on the head coach.
Following the 23-13 Week six defeat against the Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys have now dropped to a 2-4 record this season.
This was the Cowboys’ third defeat in their last four games after a 1-1 start to the season, and fans are now getting impatient with the team.
But who is to blame for the Cowboys’ underwhelming start? Well, according to former NFL player Breiden Fehoko, it rests on the shoulders of head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Fehoko didn’t call out Schottenheimer about his on-field strategies or line-ups. Instead, the ex-LA Chargers player thinks Schottenheimer being too friendly with his players is the biggest reason behind the Cowboys’ struggles.
“The Cowboys are a result of Brian Schottenheimer being a friend to these cats instead of a coach. This culture on the field stinks,” Fehoko wrote on X.
He added, “They celebrate first downs down 16 in the 4th. It’s a bunch of guys wearing chains while playing. Late hits after the whistle, wannabe UFC fighters.”
The NFL has a variety of head coaches, with some using a military-esque approach while others prefer creating a lenient culture in the locker room.
Schottenheimer has certainly done the latter since being handed the reins of the franchise in 2025.

Unfortunately, it may be time for Schottenheimer to change his approach as the Cowboys have an abysmal 9-12-1 record in 22 games under his leadership.
