England captain Harry Kane agrees new contract to stay at Bayern Munich until 2029

Harry Kane has agreed a new contract that will tie him to German champions Bayern Munich until 2029.

The England captain is in the form of his life, netting 50 goals so far this calendar year, and he is currently the front-runner to win the Ballon d'Or.

Having taken his country to the World Cup semi-final, clubs such as Barcelona were monitoring his situation, with the forward keen to sort his future following the summer tournament.

That has now been done, and it's bad news for Europe's other top sides, with Kane verbally agreeing a new three-year contract.

The Bundesliga side are now said to be drawing up the paperwork to make the new deal official. Kane will be 36 when the contract expires.

Kane and Bayern had both said there was 'no rush' to sort his future before the summer, with the forward saying in May: 'It's not the time to talk about that now, but there's no panic. We wanted to hold conversations until the end of the season and we've got a World Cup still to play.

'But everyone knows how much I enjoy it here. That situation is calm.'

His initial deal had run until the end of this season after he signed a four-year deal after moving to Bayern for £100million from Tottenham in 2023.

The striker believed to be on around £400,000-a-week in Germany. There is no indication on if he will receive a pay rise with his new deal.

He and his young family have settled into life in the country, with Kane and his wife, Kate, often seen taking part in community activities such as Oktoberfest celebrations.

The couple and their four children moved to the county from north London three years ago and it seems they will not be heading home any time soon.

The forward continues to break records for both club and country, too, having equalled Peter Shilton's England cap record over the recent international break with his 125th appearance – a number he will almost certainly take to 126 next month.

At Bayern, meanwhile, he became the fastest-ever player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals (in 98 games) and scored the most goals in a player's first 50 appearances in the league (55).

He has won the Bundesliga twice while with the club, as well as the German Cup and two German Super Cups.
