How to watch Oregon vs. Montana: Time, TV channel, streaming

Those first two exhibition games for the Oregon men's basketball team were not a pretty sight. But interim coach Tony Stubblefield and his staff seem to have turned things around as Oregon hammered Stanford to end the exhibition season.

Stubblefield, who takes over for the retired Dana Altman, will officially be making his head coaching debut in Eugene as the Ducks take on the Montana Grizzlies to open the 2026-27 men's basketball season. Oregon will bring forth a brand new roster for this season with just two holdovers from last year, center Sean Stewart and point guard Wei Lin.

Although the roster is almost brand new, the Ducks seem to have more talent and overall depth than in previous years. Transfer point guard Fred Payne (Boston College) and forward Pharoah Compton (San Diego State) bring veteran leadership and, in Compton's case, NCAA tournament experience. The roster also got a boost with the addition of Malique Ewin, when the NCAA declared him eligible for this season. He immediately made an impact with 11 points and 5 rebounds in the 85-57 win over the Cardinal.

Even with the seemingly improved roster, the Ducks were picked to finish 14th out of 18 teams in the Big Ten Conference. With every game being an audition for Stubblefield to become the permanent head coach, it'll be interesting to see how quickly this team responds and gels throughout the year.
