AEW’s women’s division could soon welcome back a former champion after a month away from the ring. Maya World made a surprise return during the AEW WrestleDream 2026 Buy-In. She shared some good news about her in-ring future.

The former TBS Champion had been absent from AEW programming since the September 9, 2026, episode of Dynamite. That was her most recent match before she stepped away to recover.

Maya World provides an update on her in-ring return after a month sidelined

World appeared at the WrestleDream Buy-In alongside Renee Paquette, Jeff Jarrett, and R.J. City, who hosted the pre-show.

The former TBS Champion confirmed she has been medically cleared to wrestle. She had missed several weeks of action after undergoing an undisclosed medical procedure, but she is now one step closer to returning to the ring.

Maya World later shared the news on X, writing, “it’s giving the IT GIRL is CLEARED TO WRESTLE”.

She did not announce a return date, but her message confirmed that she is ready to get back to wrestling after spending around a month away from the ring. Her absence reportedly followed a medical procedure related to appendicitis.

World’s latest update comes after an important period in her AEW career. She won the TBS Championship by defeating Hikaru Shida and held the title for 35 days before losing it at All In.

Her reign ended when Persephone defeated her for the championship, with Britt Baker’s interference playing a role in the result. The loss ended World’s first title reign sooner than she would have liked and left her with unfinished business in the division.

However, now that she has been cleared to compete, World can start working toward a full-time return. It remains to be seen whether AEW will put her back in the championship picture right away. Nevertheless, her previous title run could help her earn another shot.

The timing of her announcement is also interesting, as Persephone is set to defend the TBS Championship at WrestleDream in a four-way match against Queen Aminata, Dani Luna, and Hyan.
