Jeremiah Smith ensured that Indiana was made aware of how they made Ohio State feel after beating them in the Big 10 Championship game.

With the game 13-10 in favour of the Indiana Hoosiers going into the fourth quarter, Ohio knew that they could still make their way into the game. They even got a chance, but Jayden Fielding missed a field goal to help tie the game for Ohio State.

Jeremiah Smith had a good performance, where he recorded 8 receptions for 144 yards. Despite his effort, the team fell short and endured a 13-10 loss, ending their hopes of repeating as CFP champions.

In a rematch of that game, the Ohio State Buckeyes got the last laugh as they secured a 19-15 win against the Hoosiers on Saturday. Once again, Smith proved to be the difference-maker as he made the crucial touchdown to help Ohio secure their win.

Jeremiah Smith says Ohio State used loss in Big 10 Final as motivation

Ohio State came into the game with one loss and they definitely did not want to add another, especially against Indiana.

It was a game that had a lot of big moments, including Smith’s touchdown to secure the win and Indiana’s Nick Marsh stepping out of bounds in the end zone with just 1:02 minutes left and the score 19-15 in favour of Ohio State.

Although it came from some good fortune, Ohio State bagged the win and ended Indiana’s unbeaten streak, which led Smith to make the statement about last year’s loss.

“We remember what happened December 6 last year, they beat us and we know we got to come out here with elite focus and win the game, that’s all that mattered today,” said Smith after the game.

Smith ended the night with only 4 receptions for 68 yards. Indiana sent double teams to cover Smith and this helped them to some extent, as he recorded his fewest yards in a game this season, but when it mattered, the WR made the important touchdown.

Ohio State will be going into the next game with their confidence sky-high after the win against the Hoosiers. They play USC next week, which will be another tough game but with a player like Jeremiah Smith on their team, the Buckeyes will always be the favourites.
