Rio Ngumoha is the talk of the town in Liverpool right now, and deservedly so.
The 18-year-old put on a show for the Liverpool supporters on Tuesday evening as Andoni Iraola’s side came back from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 4-3 in the Champions League.
Ngumoha supplied two assists, as news around the winger’s contract situation has emerged from Fabrizio Romano, including that Liverpool are ‘working on a deal’ and that he is viewed ‘untouchable’, as he shared on social media.
What’s even better is that Dean Jones has reported that the youngster himself is ‘very calm’ about the situation, as Liverpool aim to tie down one of their best prospects to a longer-term deal.

Liverpool come out on top in a seven-goal thriller! Give us your reaction… Florian Wirtz contributing again 👀
In recent transfer windows, Liverpool have splashed the cash on several attacking players, going above the £100 million mark for Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola.
Yet there probably isn’t anyone else in this Liverpool side who excites the fans more than Ngumoha.
There was talk around Ngumoha’s future in the summer, but it has been reported by Dean Jones that the noise has ‘changed.’
The English journalist has claimed on FlashScore that the Reds are ‘confident’ the teenager will extend his stay on Merseyside, with his current contract expiring in 2028.
It has been stated that Liverpool were previously in no rush to extend Ngumoha’s contract, but his ‘rapid’ development and rival clubs ‘monitoring his position’ is making the situation ‘increasingly important to resolve.’
Ngumoha joined Liverpool from Chelsea in 2025 before he was 18, and in the end, those on Merseyside paid just under £3 million for his talents.
In today’s inflated and crazy Premier League market, that is a bargain of the highest order, and his stock is only rising.
It also proves that going out of your way and trying to push for these £100 million+ players isn’t always worth it, because there are players like Ngumoha, from within your system, who deserve the chance a lot more.
