Goalscoring has been an issue since last season, with Tottenham Hotspur yet to adequately replace Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in their attacking ranks.

The North Londoners brought in Omar Marmoush to compete with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison in the summer. However, Marmoush has managed just one goal thus far. Solanke continues to struggle with fitness, while Richarlison has been frozen out of the squad.

One would thus expect the Lilywhites to prioritise adding firepower to their forward line in the winter transfer window. Reports are doing the rounds that Roberto De Zerbi’s club have already started exploring deals for some strikers ahead of the mid-season trading period, and another forward has now been added to the club’s shortlist.

Tottenham face increased competition for Club Brugge talisman

Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi has been scouted several times by Tottenham. However, Spurs are far from alone in their pursuit, with several European clubs monitoring his progress.

Nicolo Tresoldi scored an eye-catching hat-trick in Club Brugge’s 3-2 win over St Truiden. And according to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Manchester City scouts were in attendance to watch the German youth international shine against St Truiden. Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle United also had representatives in the stadium.

The 22-year-old has been in barnstorming form this season, scoring nine goals in his opening 13 appearances in all competitions for the reigning Belgian champions. It follows on from Tresoldi’s exceptional debut season with Club Brugge last term, when he finished as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with a tally of 19 goals in 40 outings. Incredibly, the Italy-born centre-forward’s hat-trick against St Truiden on Sunday was his third in the space of just 26 days for club and country.

The latest treble has further enhanced Tresoldi’s reputation as one of the most exciting young attacking talents in world football. The Germany Under-21 international’s latest performance provided another opportunity to showcase his clinical finishing ability in front of an audience that included scouts from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

The report adds that it will take a club-record fee to prise Tresoldi away from Brugge, with that figure currently standing at €40million. While the striker is becoming increasingly difficult to keep for the Belgian champions, it’s claimed the sought-after talent is not for sale even if they receive an astronomical offer in the forthcoming transfer window.
