Florida had five players crack ESPN's preseason top 100. In fact, the Gators enter the 2026-27 season featuring three of the top 15 prospects in college basketball.
All-American Thomas Haugh led the way for Todd Golden's team, landing at No. 2. Due to their wealth of high-end talent, the Gators are considered a national championship favorite by many experts and have notched the top spot in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
Haugh's decision to forego the NBA draft and return to Gainesville has significantly elevated Florida's championship expectations. Both Alex Condon (No. 9) and Rueben Chinyelu also decided to come back for their final year of eligibility.
Condon gives Florida a second top-10 player while Chinyelu is the reigning Naismith defensive player of the year and landed at No. 15 on this list. Together, the trio makes up one of the nation's best front courts, helping the Gators rise near the top of NCAA rankings for both total rebounds and blocked shots.
Coming in at No. 74, Boogie Fland remains a pivotal backcourt contributor. ESPN noted that Fland's role was instrumental in helping the Gators earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament last year. His potential pairing with Kentucky transfer Denzel Aberdeen (No. 95) is also highlighted as a major strength for Golden's group.
Aberdeen continues to face eligibility questions as he is cleared only through a temporary court injunction. His presence — or lack thereof — would be a major wildcard for the team. The fifth-year guard could give the Gators a veteran presence at point guard to replace Xaivian Lee, who transferred to Gonzaga after a stint in the NBA Summer League.
Few programs can match the Gators' combination of size, experience and production come March, so the question becomes whether Florida can translate talent and lofty expectations into another Final Four run.
