A Formula 1 star has demanded answers after labelling his car as ‘undriveable’ at the United States Grand Prix.
This weekend, the United States Grand Prix will take place around the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, marking the start of another triple-header as the 2026 Formula 1 campaign edges closer to its finish line.
On Friday, practice took place, with Charles Leclerc topping FP1 ahead of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. In FP2, it was Leclerc who topped the timesheet again; Kimi Antonelli was second and Verstappen third.
Although Verstappen enjoyed a decent afternoon, his Red Bull teammate Isack Hadjar struggled as he finished 14th in FP1 before ranking ninth in FP2.
During FP2, Hadjar was far from impressed as he blasted his car as ‘disgusting’ on his team radio.
Speaking after the session, as reported by Motorsport, Hadjar admitted that he encountered many ‘problems’ and labelled the RB22 as ‘undriveable’.
Hadjar explained: “I did [make a lot of changes after FP1]. I was happy-ish with how it went this morning. Afterwards, I thought I was heading in the right direction, but it only brought a lot more problems.
“I still felt okay on the medium, even though we changed the car. But on the soft, the car was completely gone for me. It was very difficult to drive.
“We need to sit down and see what we can do because the car made a massive step down. We need to bring it back.
“It was just a disaster. I made most of my lap time in sector 1, but from sector 1 until the end of the lap I was slower than on the medium. It was just undriveable, I was losing the front end massively.”
“We need to have a look because this is not normal, why there was so much degradation over one lap. The fronts were completely killed in the high-speed [corners].”
To be fair to Red Bull, they listened to Hadjar's complaints and turned things around in qualifying, where he secured P3. However, given the loud nature of the driver's complaints, any issue with the car in Sunday's race is sure to attract plenty of attention.
