Colossally Clownish Penalty Kick In Caribbean Cup Goes Viral

“He’ll take it ... eventually,” the amused announcer said.

Trayvone Reid of the Jamaican soccer club Mount Pleasant approached a penalty kick at glacial speed on Wednesday ― perhaps to lull the goalkeeper into a nap?

His antics during a CONCACAF Caribbean Cup semifinal in Port of Spain caught the attention of the broadcast crew.

“Reid slow-walking this penalty but he’ll take it ... eventually,” the announcer said.

Creeping forward with tiny steps, Reid finally launched his kick, and it got blocked by Teshorne Ragoo of Trinidad and Tobago’s Club Sando.

According to USA Today, the miss was critical. It kept Club Sando just one goal behind, and the team later tied the match for a draw in the first leg of the two-match series.

The Jamaica Observer called the player’s attempt “poor.” That would be an understatement.

The teams play again on Oct. 22 in Kingston, Jamaica.
