Bromley told home truths after Wigan loss - Webster

Bromley's interim manager Byron Webster admitted some "home truths" were given to his players after the 3-2 defeat at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The result saw Wigan move above the Ravens, who slipped to the foot of the League One table.

Webster, who is taking charge of Bromley after the sacking of Andy Woodman, was not happy with the team's defending.

"It's very poor goals we're giving away at the minute," he told BBC Radio London.

"The mood's hurting, a lot of home truths have been told, but we're all adults.

"The boys have been in this situation before. It's ruthless, football, you either sink or you swim, and that's the characters we need, and we have, in there.

"The boys are hurting, but they know the job we need to do."

Bromley's next match is in the FA Cup first round on Saturday against a Rotherham United side who are third from bottom in League Two after two wins from their first 14 games.

But despite facing a team equally out of form, from the division below, Webster is keen to make sure his players do not treat it any differently.

"I never went into a game thinking, 'oh this is the FA Cup' or 'this is the Carabao Cup', it was just another game of football that you have to win," he said.

"That's the mentality I hope the lads have. Yes, the balls [with different logos] might change but the game situation doesn't, you just go out there to win."
