South Africa vs Australia third and final Test match is being played in Cape Town. This is a decider with the series being even poised at 1-1. During the final day of the game, Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed yet again cheaply in the Test match in the first over by Kagiso Rabada, as he nears being dropped from the squad.
The first Test match was completely dominated by Australia as they won the game by 214 runs. Then, in the second game, it was Temba Bavuma’s masterclass and Marco Jansen’s fight that saved the Proteas from yet another defeat as they changed the game in their favour after taking a huge lead in the first innings and won the game by an innings.
Marnus Labuschagne, who is having a poor time in the traditional format of the game, was dismissed for just four runs in the second innings of the ongoing Test match. He just played three balls and struck one boundary before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada in the first over of Australia’s second innings as they look to chase a target of 290 runs.
Marnus was adjudged LBW by the umpire as he did not offer a shot to a brilliant delivery. The ball nipped back sharply off a length from around fifth stump and crashed into the flap of the back pad, as the batter had no chance after he already committed to leaving the ball and the review showcased that it was an umpire’s call.
The 32-year-old cricketer might have played his last Test match for the Aussies. He has been disappointing in this series against the Proteas. Despite getting a hundred in the warm-up match, he failed to deliver at the main stage. His highest score in this series is 39 runs. He completed the series with a total of 131 runs, which displays his struggles.
Marnus has gone 49 innings now without a ton and remains the worst batter for the Aussies in 147 years, as he previously, in the first innings, surpassed the record of Alick Bannerman’s 47-innings drought (1879-93) for the longest century drought by an Australian top-four batter.
In the first innings, he scored a five-ball duck, as his last century came at Old Trafford in Manchester in July 2023. This showcases his poor form for more than two years now. He has been backed by the selection committee and also his captain, Pat Cummins, despite poor form. But there is very little chance that he will retain his place in the next series.
Thank you Marnus Labuschagne for your services to Australian Cricket. Your international career is over. OUT YOU GO 👋 https://t.co/iLxyw5SE4p

8 balls is the fewest that Marnus Labuschagne has faced in any Test match #SAvAUS

Both fitting and unfortunate that Marnus' last Australia innings will be over with an umpires review call. He had the luck early in his career, but Labuschagne hasn't had it these days Sad to see - he's better then this and we all know it

It's kinda funny that the term 'being a Marnus' already had the exact same meaning before Labuschagne showed it again this year @CricketAus

Best halloween costume I've seen so far has been Marnus Labuschagne dressed as an Australian cricketer batting at no 3 tonight. #SAvAUS
