If there’s one thing you couldn’t accuse Morgan Rogers of since he arrived at Chelsea, it’s lacking a clinical edge in front of goal.
He’s got 6 goals and 4 assists in all competitions. His latest game as the opener on Saturday against Man U, a superb driving run through the middle followed by a delightful chipped finish. But in an chat with the club website, he revealed that he actually was hoping to improve even further in front of goal.
“I think being more clinical in front of goal, being more ruthless in and around the box, is something that previously I was a bit disappointed in myself because I’d score a nice goal every once in a while, but I wouldn’t score the easy goals. I’m trying to work on that here,” the attacker said.
“I’m trying to improve in my final actions, so that’s my biggest one. I’m an attacker, so I try to score goals and assist and create chances, and I want to keep improving. I’m not there yet, but it’s a good start!”
We love to hear that ambition and desire to improve from an attacker.
Aaron Anselmino was not on the bench for Chelsea’s game against Man U – but he was just behind it.
Xabi Alonso was delighted with how his team had performed against Man U, and called it a “mature” showing from his boys.
