Chicago Bears make significant upward move in NFC North and NFC

The NFL season is continuing to heat up in the NFC North Division. Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears are showing no sign of slowing down, and current trends indicate they are ready to take over not only the North but the whole NFC. The Minnesota Vikings, on the other hand, are regressing.

Here are my takeaways from Week 8 in the NFC North from each team:

(6-1) Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are in the market for a quarterback with their recent struggles, and that is very concerning eight weeks into the season, even though they are in first place. If their defense did not perform to the level it has established, they would be last place in the division. Last week revealed that the defense can only do so much. The Detroit Lions got the best out of them. Minnesota is in no position to feel confident right now. The Vikings struggle to score 20 points each week. They have to find answers on offense.

(6-2) Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are only getting better. This team added a difference-maker on defense in Jeffery Simmons, and now suddenly their defense looks just as good as their offense. No team in the NFC North has an advantage over them anymore. With how things are trending, it is only a matter of time before the Vikings lose their grip on the first division.

(5-2) Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions look like they can become the 2nd best team in the division. They got the best out of the Minnesota Vikings in a very impressive way. The Lions' defense has had some big injuries, but the unit is still playing a lot better than at the start of the season. Their offense gives them an extremely high ceiling. The Lions are a team to watch out for.

(5-3) Green Bay Packers

Although the Green Bay Packers are in last place in the division, this is still a high-quality NFC team. Jordan Love is playing like a top quarterback in the league, and the Packers' defense is turning the corner. Micah Parsons' return should even further elevate them. I would not be surprised if they end up making the playoffs as well.

Overview

Ironically, the team that is first place in this division has been the least impressive as of late. The Minnesota Vikings, at 6-1, are trending in the wrong direction, while every other team in the division is getting better and better. It would not be out of the realm of possibility to see Minnesota plummet to the bottom, especially with no offensive improvement.
