Everything came together for Nottingham Forest on Saturday, beating Manchester City 3-1 at the City Ground to finally get the Oliver Glasner era underway.
Nottingham Forest came out of the blocks fast against Manchester City, and within six minutes, Jair Cunha had Oliver Glasner’s side ahead. Liam Delap doubled the lead in the 18th minute before he added a third after a consolation by Rayan Cherki.
It was a stunning performance that few saw coming, but it was more than deserved after how Forest have struggled despite playing well all season. The Oliver Glasner era has lifted off. Here are the player ratings from the game.
Some good saves, and he couldn’t really do much about the one he conceded.
Brilliant run for the goal that ended the drought at the City Ground. Suited the aggressive front-foot defender role that he was designated by Glasner. Super performance.
Solid showing at centre-back, vast improvement on recent displays with no real errors to point towards.
Forest needed more from Murillo, and against City, they got it with his front foot defending absolutely vital in this strong performance.
Strong showing as he kept Jeremy Doku quiet and also threatened down the other end. Absence was felt after he was replaced by Luca Netz.
Schlager hasn’t been good enough this season, but he did well against City. Got the assist for Cunha’s goal.
A very rare start for Yates, and he was superb. Embodying the club on the pitch was motivating and hyping up teammates, and knocking the ball around nicely.
Not his best performance, but he did what was needed.
Played further forward than usual, he wasn’t really utilising his big strengths. Worked hard but ultimately was withdrawn with a yellow card.
Brilliant performance, worked relentlessly, and set up Delap for the third. Could have had three assists with the chances he created.
Two incredible finishes as he reminded the Premier League what a special talent he is. Unstoppable for his two goals and showed some brilliant link-up play.
Took one for the team with a professional foul to stop a City break at 2-1, not a lot else to highlight.
Replaced Munoz but was on the left, got up and down well, and offered an outlet for his team as they held out for three points.
Offered Forest more physicality in the middle of the park, which was needed at the time.
Worked hard defensively, got himself booked for wasting the last few seconds of time for City.
