Andrew Novak is now a two-time PGA Tour winner. Crucially, though, he now has a victory when playing his own ball.

As we know, Novak’s first PGA Tour win came at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2025, but he was playing as part of a two-man team alongside Ben Griffin.

Now the 31-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina, has recorded the first solo victory of his career, and that will be so important to him.

Novak has peace of mind knowing he will now be exempt through the 2028 PGA Tour season, which is a huge deal with the Championship Series set to come into play next year.

Do you think Jackson Koivun is more likely to win his first major than Brooks Koepka is to win his sixth next year? 🤔

After his win at the VidantaWorld Mexico Open, Novak spoke to reporters about just how meaningful Sunday’s victory was for him.

Novak addressed the media after securing his second PGA Tour win on Sunday, and the first of his career while playing his own ball.

He was asked how confident he was of being able to get the job done during the final round in Mexico.

“I think the confidence is there. Like I felt like this is a good way to prove my confidence to myself,“ Novak explained.

“Yes, I should be confident, but I think the biggest thing for this is it’s going to give me opportunity. I was obviously trying to stay in the moment but it’s hard not to think about what this could mean for 2028 with things changing with the PGA Tour.

“Obviously that could be massive for me. Yeah, there are massive implications for my career with this win. Obviously confidence coming from it is a part, but I think opportunity is now the biggest benefit.“

Fair play to Andrew Novak.

He is now exempt for the Championship Series in 2028, and that will have a hugely positive impact on his career.

Novak’s second and third rounds in Mexico formed the bedrock of his five-shot win.

And he commented on shooting 61 and 62 on Friday and Saturday at Vidanta Vallarta after his final round.

“Yeah, that’s the best I’ve ever played for 36 holes,“ the 31-year-old admitted.

“There were points, I mean the second shot I hit on 14 yesterday, I literally — you can go back on the video, I’m literally laughing walking down the fairway. The ball’s a foot below my feet and I just throw an 8-iron at it praying, trying to get it up near the green and I get it up and down, and it goes to five feet. Just kind of in the zone. It’s one of those times where golf just kind of relents and gives you some success.

“Yeah, I made everything. I hit it great. I was 19 under for two rounds with a bogey on a par 5. I probably won’t do that again in my PGA Tour career, and that’s OK. Crazy, crazy two days for me, yeah.“
