NFL star forced to address trade rumors fueled by his own wife
Colts star Jonathan Taylor's wife fueled trade talks

Indianapolis Colts superstar Jonathan Taylor has been forced to address trade chatter after his wife took to social media to address the rumors.

Taylor, 27, has been a standout for the Colts since being drafted to Indianapolis in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, despite his individual brilliance, which has seen him score 76 rushing touchdowns, including two separate campaigns where he scored 18, the Colts have only reached the playoffs once since Taylor’s arrival, which came in his rookie year.

In 2026, the Colts have gotten off to another losing start, with their record sitting at 2-5, and second in the AFC South behind the Jacksonville Jaguars. They’ve also lost their last three consecutive games.

And with the NFL Trade Deadline approaching on Nov. 10, the Colts and Taylor became a hot topic of conversation, with the franchise’s future Draft capital depleted for next year’s picking process. Last season, the Colts traded the New York Jets two first-round draft picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell to acquire cornerback Sauce Gardner.

Taylor presents the Colts with the best opportunity to get a first-round pick back ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft, and more. With trade rumors swirling, Taylor’s wife and childhood sweetheart, Ayanna, took to TikTok to address a potential trade.

“My husband is currently the starting running back for the Colts,” said Ayanna. “His name is Jonathan Taylor, and we have been on the team for seven years.”

“That's kind of unheard of in the NFL,” she added. “You're very lucky if you're able to do so, and we're in a situation that we've never been in before. This may be the first time we may not be on the same team. We might get traded, and it all began last season.”

Ayanna then gave her social media followers a breakdown of the Colts’ form in 2025 and this season. “So the Colts were already in the hot seat last year, but then we went on this crazy hot streak with our new QB (Daniel Jones), and everything looked great until he got hurt, and then we started losing game for game,” she said.

“But because the potential was still there, the GM and (coach Shane Steichen) were able to keep their jobs for another year. Fast forward to today, our record is 2-4 (editor's note: now 2-5), and we just lost to a winless Titans.

“They were 0-5, now they're 1-5. Hence, they fire Chris Ballard. And players that once seemed untouchable may now be on the table, hence, the rumors circulating around my husband. But there's more to this story.”

After his wife spoke out, Taylor was forced to address her post on social media.

“It's been out there already, so I think her adding (to it) doesn't really change anything,” Taylor told reporters in Minneapolis after the 16-10 loss to the Vikings. “You know everybody's on TikTok these days. So, you just gotta … stay focused.”

However, Ayanna didn’t stop there. In Part 2, the Colts’ decision to trade away picks for Gardner was referenced. “That's what brings us back to my husband,” she concluded.

“Do they keep him? … Or do they just cut their losses and trade him?”
