Porter rolls ankle, Overshown out as Cowboys elevate CB, S vs Packers

The Dallas Cowboys have made a series of roster moves this week, culminating with their elevation decisions on Saturday. Looking to get back in the win column and even their record at 3-3, the team is headed to Green Bay, Wisconsin to take on the Packers on Sunday Night football. Dallas has had far too long to remaining reeling after their Thursday night loss to the Buccaneers, allowing a winless Tampa Bay team off the snide.

Now, they look to fix their own ailments against a Packers team that will play without two of their top defenders. Both Micah Parsons and Edgerin Cooper are out for this contest, with the former still not ready to practice after tearing his ACL and the latter recently injuring his Achilles. Dallas can't feel sorry for their opponent with all of the injuries they are dealing with.

Most notably, cornerback Cobie Durant was ruled out on Friday, marking the fourth straight game he'll miss. LB DeMarvion Overshown was ruled out Saturday. The team is still playing without safeties Jalen Thompson and PJ Locke. Locke's window to begin practicing again can begin this week, but Thompson will at least miss the next two contests.

As for injuries of players on the roster, CB Joey Porter reportedly rolled his ankle in practice. He's questionable after missing last week's game with a stomach virus that has been going around the Dallas area. Also questionable are DE LT Overton (foot) and CB Ameer Speed knee).

The Packers will also be without rotational interior defenders Javon Hargrave (Achilles) and Jonathan Ford (foot). So perhaps the Cowboys will be able to get some advantages up the middle of their offensive attack.

Back to Dallas' roster moves, earlier in the week the team brought RB Emari Demarcardo back to the 53-man roster after waiving him last week. The also replaced CB Alex Austin on the practice squad with OL Nick Leverett, whom the released a day prior to sign back Demarcardo.

On Saturday, the club elevated cornerback Derion Kendrick, who was brought in during the offseason from the Los Angeles Rams roster. He failed to make the 53-man roster but has been on the practice squad the first five weeks, so he will get some action on Sunday.

Also elevated is saety Juanyeh Thomas.

All of this means the team will now have to make seven players inactive prior to Sunday night's contest.

The team will name their 90 minutes prior to the club's 7:15 pm CT kickoff.
