Michael Carrick delivered a passionate speech to begin his press conference on Friday and he will be hoping his Manchester United players were taking notice. Carrick's job is on the line as they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford this afternoon. A defeat is more than likely going to end his tenure at the club.

Carrick still believes he is the right person to turn the ship around at Old Trafford, but he needs results and he needs them fast. The United boss may wish to make plenty of changes after the defeat to Como in midweek. However, injuries may have blocked him from doing just that.

With that in mind, MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest injury news ahead of today's encounter.

Marcus Rashford

Injury: Hip

Rashford was missing from the disastrous trip to Como. Carrick confirmed in midweek that he was struggling with a hip issue but no update was provided on Friday as to how bad that issue is.

Potential return date: October 25 vs Bournemouth

Martinez was replaced at half-time at Elland Road and did not travel to Como. Carrick had some confidence that the centre-back could be fit to face Bournemouth this weekend.

Potential return date: October 25 vs Bournemouth

Ayden Heaven

Injury: Illness

Speaking on MUTV after his press conference, Carrick confirmed Heaven had overcome illness to return to the group ahead of the clash with Bournemouth.

Potential return date: October 25 vs Bournemouth

Benjamin Sesko

Injury: Shin

Carrick was planning to provide an update on Sesko's fitness before the weekend. But his passionate speech and the result at Como changed those plans. An update on the striker may be given later today.

Potential return date: Unknown

Kobbie Mainoo

Injury: Muscular

Carrick confirmed in midweek that Mainoo would be out for a further ten days. That puts him in contention for next week's trip to Stamford Bridge.

Potential return date: October 31 vs Chelsea

Luke Shaw

Injury: Unknown

United's head coach confirmed Shaw would be out longer than Mainoo. This suggests he will return in November.

Potential return date: November 3 vs AS Roma

Patrick Dorgu

Injury: Thigh

Dorgu picked up his thigh injury during a UEFA Nations League outing. He is not expected back until November at the earliest.

Potential return date: November

Manuel Ugarte

Injury: Knee

Ugarte has the longest wait until he is fully fit. He suffered a serious knee injury during the World Cup.
