4 players who must step up in place of injured Rams starters

The Los Angeles Rams were dealt some serious injury blows this week when they lost Davante Adams, Kobie Turner and Poona Ford for extended periods of time. Adams is out 6-10 weeks, Ford will miss the rest of the season and Turner is expected to land on IR before returning at some point after a "handful of weeks."

The Rams could bring in some outside help, but in the meantime, they're likely to lean on a few of their primary backups.

Here are four players who must step up for the Rams in wake of these injuries.

WR Konata Mumpfield

Mumpfield was asked to step up when Puka Nacua was out, but he's a more natural fit for the role Adams plays on the outside. He should be the player to get the first opportunity at wide receiver, given his route running and ability to get open for the quarterback.

Expecting him to be a true No. 2 wideout is unreasonable, but he showed flashes against the Broncos when he had four catches for 93 yards and a touchdown, most of which came on one drive.

WR Jordan Whittington

Whittington has played 29% of the snaps but he's barely been involved as a receiver. He's been targeted three times and has caught just two passes for 12 yards in the five games he's played.

The Rams like him as a blocker but it's become abundantly clear that they don't see Whittington as a pure wide receiver who can run routes and make plays at that position. Still, he'll likely be asked to play more snaps while Adams is out.

NT Ty Hamilton

The Rams don't really have a true backup nose tackle on the roster. Hamilton is the closest thing, but he's not the space-eater that Ford has been for the Rams in the last two seasons. That being said, he's the Rams' best option at the nose, especially considering Tim Keenan III is no longer in the picture.

Hamilton was a major disappointment as a rookie in 2025 and hasn't had much of an impact this year, but he won't get a bigger opportunity than this one coming up.

DL Tyler Davis

Turner is a tough player to replace but the Rams have a quality backup in Davis, whom Chris Shula and Sean McVay both view as a fourth starter on the defensive line. He's played 38% of the snaps after playing 42% last season, and has recorded 15 tackles, one of which went for a loss.

He should capitalize on this chance to play more snaps while Turner is out.
