Peter Crouch gobsmacked by what he’s just heard about Tarik Muharemovic, ‘that is an outrage’

There is an argument to say that Tarik Muharemovic has been Leeds United’s best player this season. But Peter Crouch has been left stunned after hearing a stat about the Bosnian ace.

Only two players have played every single minute of Leeds’ 2026-27 season so far. They are skipper Ethan Ampadu and summer recruit Muharemovic. All the more impressive after he played at the World Cup.

A £34m signing from Sassuolo, Muharemovic’s form has even annoyed Juventus fans after the Old Lady sold him to Sassuolo. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Barcelona are keen.

Peter Crouch cannot believe what he’s heard about Muharemovic

But hilariously, over the weekend, it emerged that Muharemovic leads the way for ‘launches’ in England’s top flight. Usually, defenders are judged on metrics such as clearances and long-ball success rate.

On BBC Radio 5 Live, Mark Chapman called out the stat doing the rounds that sees Muharemovic lead the way for Premier League launches. The clip was played on the latest episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast.

Chapman said: “He is top of the Premier League stats for successful launches. When did this become a metric? A Launch is defined as a long, high ball into space, or an area for a player. That’s a hoof, isn’t it?”

Crouch responded: “A hoof! Hold on a minute. They’re right to call it out. I mean, that is an outrage. It is a long ball; can we not just say long ball? What is a successful launch? You have to get on the end of it?”

Ironically, Muharemovic is also leading the way for clearances

Given the Bosnia star, who Leeds currently rate at £60m, is playing every minute of football for Leeds at the moment, it is no surprise he ranks highly for clearances as well, since joining Daniel Farke’s side.

Muharemovic is currently leading the way in the Premier League for clearances, which is a much more established metric in the world of Premier League stats. He has produced 72, averaging eight a game.

He is in front of Bournemouth’s Antonio Silva, who has produced 66 in the League, while Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is on 64. But launches? It is difficult to see the difference between that and clearances.
