Mikey Moore’s struggles at FC Koln have led to media speculation over a potential return to Rangers on loan in January.
Rangers were keen on Moore in the summer after an impressive campaign on loan last season, but things never advanced.
Tottenham wanted him to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues, which is what led to them letting him join Koln, a Bundesliga outfit on loan. However, things have not panned out too well for the English winger in Germany.
TalkingPoints
What do you make of Rangers potentially re-signing Mikey Moore on loan?
Rangers News understands that the Light Blues are not considering a move for Moore on loan in January, were he to be made available. Tottenham could consider recalling the 19-year-old in the winter and then look for potential destinations for him.
As things stand, it is unclear as to whether or not the North London outfit will consider that option, but they surely will not be pleased with how his season is panning out. There also may be certain conditions in the contract that will allow them to, so it remains to be seen if that option can be exercised.
However, Moore is struggling to adapt to his new surroundings. In seven league appearances, he has failed to score a single goal for Koln and has only provided one assist – which came in a 4-1 loss against Stuttgart. He has started just four games for them in the Bundesliga, so it’s clear that Rene Wagner does not rate him too highly.
Rangers are not expected to be active in January, and Rangers News understands that their stance will not change for Moore. Derek McInnes is pleased with the wingers he has at his disposal and will not be pushing the board for a new winger.
That may change if there is a surprise sale, for example, Djeidi Gassama, but Moore is still not viewed as an option in case that happens. Excluding Gassama, there are four other first-team wingers in the squad, which is considered plenty for the Gers boss.
Badredine Bouanani and Minsu Kim have adapted well to life at Ibrox, and Findlay Curtis is also showing why he can be a handful in the final third. It may be time to put an end to any speculation surrounding Moore’s return.
