Packers sign 3 players, release 1 from practice squad on Tuesday

The Green Bay Packers made four changes to the practice squad on Tuesday, signing three players and releasing one. The team announced the signing of quarterback Cam Miller, edge rusher D.J. Johnson and safety John Saunders Jr. and the release of safety Kahlef Hailassie.

Quarterback Kedon Slovis was signed off the Packers practice squad by the Baltimore Ravens, opening an additional spot on the practice squad and clearing the way for the arrival of Miller, a 2025 sixth-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders. He will be the new No. 3 quarterback behind Jordan Love and Tyrod Taylor.

Johnson, now in his third season, was the 80th overall pick in the 2023 draft. He played in 31 games for the Carolina Panthers between the 2023 and 2025 seasons, tallying 60 tackles, four tackles for loss and a half-sack. He was most recently on the practice squad of the Washington Commanders.

Saunders went undrafted out of Ole Miss in 2025. He spent time on the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins and the active roster of the New England Patriots as a rookie but was released by the Patriots at final cuts in August. Saunders has been on the practice squad of the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns in 2026.
