The FIA have announced the verdict after a stewards' hearing into a 'dangerous' incident involving Rafael Camara and Charles Leclerc at the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix.

The incident took place during Friday afternoon's second Free Practice session at Interlagos, as the 21-year-old Camara - himself a product of the Ferrari Driver Academy - began his first full F1 weekend after replacing Esteban Ocon at Haas.

The highly-rated young Brazilian appeared to block Leclerc at the worst possible moment, on the lead-up to the main straight and one of the iconic track's fastest sections.

The stewards noted the incident and decided to investigate what they termed 'unnecessary impeding', and after hearing evidence they announced their official verdict late on Friday.

Camara reprimanded by Interlagos stewards

The stewards decided to give Camara an official Reprimand for his driving, and their ruling read: "The Stewards heard from the driver of Car 51 (Rafael Camara), team representatives and reviewed video, team radio and in-car video evidence and determined that Car 51 was warned multiple times that Car 16 (LEC) was arriving on a fast lap.

"Yet, Car 51 was weaving and moving well into the racing line. Car 16 had to take evasive action to avoid a collision by moving to the right, with a significant amount of the car off the track."

The stewards confirmed that they viewed the incident as "clearly dangerous" in determining their verdict.

"The situation that was created was clearly dangerous and Car 51 should have taken more care to avoid impeding Car 16.

"While the typical penalty for impeding in a Free Practice session is a warning, in this instance, we are of the view that a reprimand is warranted."

Apart from that high-profile incident, it was a promising first day at the office for Camara, who is viewed by some as the potential long-term successor to Lewis Hamilton at Maranello.

He finished P18 in the first practice session of the day, before improving to P16 in FP2. He will take on the first Qualifying session of his career later today (Saturday).
