Offensive tackle Samuel Bailey committed to Florida back in September, but the four-star prospect is now set to visit Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Bailey is the No. 1 overall prospect out of Alabama in the 2028 recruiting class. Bailey is a 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound prospect from Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville, Alabama.
"I really believe in what Coach Jon Sumrall is building at Florida," Bailey said when he committed on Sept. 28.
Steve Wiltfong of Rivals reports that Bailey will travel to Oxford, Mississippi, to attend the Rebels' date with Auburn — a development worth keeping an eye on, but not an official de-commitment. The trip is listed as an unofficial visit; he previously visited Oxford on Sept. 19.
There is no indication that Bailey has changed his pledge to the Orange and Blue.
Jon Sumrall and the Gators may be heading towards a future battle for the junior. Both programs may need to continue courting the high school sophomore; Ole Miss has an opportunity to gain ground with Bailey on Halloween.
How Florida responds to the SEC rival hosting a commit and what the visit means to Sumrall's staff remains to be seen.
Bailey is the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2028 recruiting class and No. 3 at his position, according to 247Sports composite. On3 industry rankings have him at Nos. 23 and 4, respectively. The No. 1 recruit in the state of Alabama had 30 scholarship offers before committing to Florida; among the programs inviting him were Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn and Clemson.
