Ralf Schumacher believes Lewis Hamilton's relationship with Ferrari is far from ideal, suggesting that the seven-time Formula 1 world champion is struggling to find his place within the Italian team. The German has questioned Hamilton's attitude and raised doubts about how well he is working with team principal Fred Vasseur.
Speaking on Sky Germany's Backstage Boxengasse podcast, Schumacher offered a critical assessment of the situation at Maranello. His concerns centre on Hamilton's approach to working with the team, with the German suggesting that the Briton is trying to exert too much influence rather than integrating himself into the existing structure.
Schumacher also suspects that the difficulties may extend to Hamilton's relationship with Vasseur. Although he did not claim to have direct knowledge of what is happening behind the scenes, he believes there are signs that the atmosphere within Ferrari is not entirely positive.
Hamilton's position within Ferrari was the main focus of Schumacher's criticism. The German suggested that the seven-time world champion needs to reconsider how he interacts with the people around him, particularly if he wants to establish a productive relationship with the team.
"Hamilton needs to stop behaving like this and integrate himself into the team. At the moment, I get the feeling there is some friction between Lewis and the team," Schumacher said.

His remarks suggest that he sees Hamilton's attitude as a potential obstacle to building a stronger working relationship at Maranello. Rather than questioning the Briton's achievements or experience, Schumacher focused on how he believes Hamilton is conducting himself within the organisation.
The former Formula 1 driver then made an even stronger accusation, suggesting that Hamilton is attempting to establish himself as the leading authority within Ferrari: "Lewis is trying to overshadow everyone and be the boss. I also get the impression that things aren't going smoothly with Vasseur."
The criticism comes against the backdrop of Hamilton's efforts to bring changes to Ferrari. Since joining the Italian outfit, the Briton has been open about the difficulties involved in improving the team's working methods and has raised questions about the people and processes around him.
Those ambitions have also prompted discussion about whether Hamilton's desire to make changes is helping Ferrari move forward or making it more difficult for him to settle into the team. Schumacher appears particularly concerned about the latter possibility, although he has presented his views as impressions rather than established facts.
Recent strategic decisions and public comments from both Hamilton and Vasseur have contributed to Schumacher's assessment. He believes there could be problems with communication, questioning whether the Briton is addressing his proposed changes directly with those involved.
For the former driver, the issue is not simply whether Hamilton has ideas about how Ferrari should improve, but how he communicates those ideas and works with the rest of the organisation: "I don't even know whether he's speaking directly to the others about the things he would like to change. At the moment, the situation isn't entirely harmonious."
