REPUBLIC OF IRELAND boss Heimir Hallgrimsson is eyeing Shea Lacey.
The Manchester United winger was born in Liverpool and is an England youth international but is eligible for Ireland through his dad Paddy.
Lacey, 19, set up Matheus Cunha’s winner in the midweek 3-2 Champions League comeback victory against Roma.
Asked if he has been in contact with the teen ahead of next week’s Nations League clash with Austria, Hallgrimsson said: “That would be for other guys in the association.
“But it was interesting looking at his Irish connection.”
Lacey has represented England from Under-15 level through to the Under-20s.
He made his United full first-team debut in the Carabao Cup 3-2 loss to Brighton in September, but he scored the opener after just seven minutes.
Hallgrimsson’s Ireland assistant manager is Old Trafford cult hero John O’Shea.
The Icelandic gaffer also revealed ex-Everton full-back Seamus Coleman will work with Ireland in a coaching role.
Lacey started out at Man Utd’s academy before making his debut in December 2025.
The winger has since amassed a total of one goal and one assist in ten appearances across all competitions.
The forward came on for the final 16 minutes on Tuesday against Roma at Old Trafford and quickly made history.
Lacey set up Cunha’s brace and became the youngest United player to assist a Champions League winner.
