Mike Tirico has been pulled from the NBC broadcast of Sunday Night Football between the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Just seven hours before kickoff at Soldier Field, NBC released a statement from Tirico, 59, confirming he would not be on the call due to a health issue.
The legendary announcer has been the voice of Sunday Night Football since replacing Al Michaels in 2022, as well as hosting the network's Olympics coverage and working on NBA games.
The versatile broadcast star was due to be calling his 300th NFL game with Cris Collinsworth alongside him in the booth and Melissa Stark sideline reporting.
'Unfortunately, I will have to miss tonight's game in Chicago due to a health issue,' Tirico said in his statement.
'I look forward to watching tonight and can't wait to be back with Cris, Melissa and the rest of our 'SNF' team next Sunday night in Cincinnati.'
Next weekend will see the Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football, when Tirico hopes to return.
Eagle leads NBC's No.2 crew, and was on the call for a Saturday night thriller in college football as No.11 Notre Dame beat No.1 Miami in a controversial ending.
Alongside his NBC commitments, which have seen him call the NFL's first-ever game in Brazil and playoff games in the past, he has been the lead Netflix announcer this year.
Eagle was joined by Luke Kuechly for the season-opening game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia and will cover the Rams hosting the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Eve.
The streaming giants will also host two Christmas Day games, with Eagle set to be on the call for one of those contests.
Like Tirico, Eagle is a versatile voice on NBC, also covering play-by-play duties on NBA games on the network.
He'll now have an extra NFL rep under his belt as a result of his late Sunday Night Football call to replace Tirico.
