Leicester City reluctantly cashed in on teenage prodigy Jeremy Monga over the summer - but his development in the last few months appears to have grinded to a halt.
The youngster departed the King Power Stadium in July, completing a £10 million move to Manchester City, before he went on to join Swansea City on loan for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day.
However, he has been unable to establish himself in Vitor Matos' plans so far, and was denied any minutes on the pitch against QPR on Saturday, after making the bench for the first time this season.
Monga made 27 Championship appearances last term, scoring once and providing two assists as Leicester were relegated to League One.
Despite the small goal contribution returns, he is highly rated at just 17, and those among the Foxes hierarchy and fanbase will surely be baffled as to what is going on in South Wales.
In the early months of the season, Monga's loan spell has not gone according to plan, with the 17-year-old yet to make a competitive appearance for Swansea.
The England youth international was even unable to secure a place in the matchday squad until Saturday, with Swans boss Matos pointing towards the competition for places across the frontline, while outlining that the high-flyers are "in contact all the time" with parent club Manchester City.
"There are a lot of things that, when you have a player on loan, you need to do and communicating is one of them," he told BBC earlier this month.
"There's a lot of communication, and we are here with an open book about it. He's available, of course, but at the moment we have a really competitive squad.
"We need to make decisions regarding all the possibilities, to try to cover all scenarios on the bench as well, regarding how the game goes, let's say it like that."

With Swansea starting well this season, the likes of Moussa Yeo, Ronald, Eom Ji-sung and Joseph Opoku have all provided competition in the wide areas.
However, injuries to Yeo and Ronald have presented Monga with a potential opportunity, with the younger finally making the bench as Swansea were dismantled by QPR on Saturday.
Given the ongoing situation involving Monga, eyebrows will undoubtedly be raised at Leicester.
The winger progressed through the academy in the East Midlands before making his Premier League debut against Newcastle in April 2025, aged just 15 years and 271 days.
He would then make seven appearances in the top flight and establish himself as a regular in the squad during the Championship relegation campaign.
He would feature 27 times in total, becoming Leicester's youngest-ever goalscorer against Preston, and demonstrated his ability to compete at that level throughout the season, despite the Foxes' struggles.
He is naturally raw given his age, but it will still come as a surprise that he has not played a single minute of league football so far, when his price tag is considered alongside the fact he was playing Premier League football 18 months ago.
After City invested a reported £10 million to secure his services over the summer, they may be left with a big decision when the January transfer window comes around.
Monga was sent to Swansea for minutes, and so far he is yet to register a single one.
While the thoughts of the Premier League club will be elsewhere given their legal situation, they will have to keep an eye on Monga.
Saturday's appearance on the bench could be a step in the right direction, especially if Matos looks to rotate after such a defeat.
However, if he does not get minutes under his belt sooner rather than later, Manchester City may have to bite the bullet and recall him in January.
