Tom Brady may have built a legacy as the GOAT (greatest of all time) of American football, but he clearly knows his way around the other football—or as we call it in the U.S.—soccer. In fact, the retired quarterback is a big fan of the sport and is celebrating by teaming up with Ferrero to give World Cup fans a chance to win some pretty incredible prizes.
Right now, fans who purchase any two Ferrero products and scan the QR codes or visit goallinandwin.com can enter to win a weekly prizes or the overall grand prize. No purchase is necessary to enter, and prizes include branded soccer merch like jerseys and gym bags, a fan-cave upgrade complete with a new TV, sound system, and theater seating, the ultimate gaming setup, and even an all-expenses-paid superfan trip to a competing nation. There is also one grand prize winner who will walk away with $1 million, which, I would argue, makes buying a candy bar or two worthwhile.
Last week, Brady also unveiled a limited-edition collection of his favorite Ferrero products called the Ferrero GOAT Treat Vault—yes, the greatest of all treats! The box included what he described to me as “a lot of classics.” Inside were Butterfinger, Crunch, Kinder Bueno, 100 Grand, and Baby Ruth bars, along with Ferrero Rocher squares, Keebler Fudge Stripes minis, both Wintergreen and Orange Tic Tacs, and Nutella.
“These are a lot of the ones I had growing up,” he told me. “I would go down to the grocery store—and this was the time when they were 25 cents—and I would try to get as many as I could for what I had in my pocket, which was never a lot of money.”
While Brady is often associated with a healthy lifestyle, that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy a treat now and then. And as far as he’s concerned, the World Cup is as good an occasion as any to indulge. “It’s nice for America to get the World Cup, to see all these amazing, talented players come here and do what they love to do,” he said.
If he had to pick just one Ferrero treat though, it would be Tic Tacs. Brady said he always carries them in his pocket, but while both Wintergreen and Orange made it into the GOAT Treat Vault, Wintergreen is his favorite. He also admitted he’s lost count of how many he goes through in a week. “I do singing lessons, so they’re a little treat for after,” he revealed, though he was tight-lipped on what those lessons are for.
It’s not a secret that Brady isn’t the biggest fan of strawberries, but when I asked if there were any other widely loved foods he doesn’t like, he didn’t hesitate: “Blueberry muffins.” Stop hating on the fruit, Tom! Or somebody just get this man a better muffin.
And while strawberries and blueberry muffins may be out, he’s all in on coconut water. He recently announced a new business venture in partnership with Gopuff, a new coconut water brand cheekily named Good Nut. “It’s just that was a fun one,” he told me of the name. “We kind of kicked it around and we said it and everyone laughed. The commercial was fun to make and we had a great time with it.”
One thing’s for sure: Tom Brady may be retired from football, but he’s still keeping himself busy—and having fun with food along the way.
