Eintracht Frankfurt have prepared a plan to sign Nottingham Forest‘s Arnaud Kalimuendo in the winter market after failing to secure a deal in the summer window.
The striker joined the Premier League side after impressing at Stade Rennais between 2022 and 2025. In his final season with the Ligue 1 side, he finished with 18 goals and four assists.
His performances convinced Nottingham Forest to invest around €30m in August 2025. However, the Frenchman wasn’t able to replicate the Stade Rennais at the City Ground last season.
He played 392 minutes in 14 matches, scoring only two goals for the Reds. The limited role convinced Kalimuendo to join the Bundesliga side on loan in January.
The 24-year-old regained his form after enjoying regular minutes with the German club in the second half of last season. He scored six goals and contributed one assist in 19 matches.
Eintracht Frankfurt had agreed a purchase option of around €27m with Nottingham Forest but refused to pay that. Their plan was to lower the price to sign him permanently in the summer.

Oliver Glasner took charge in the summer and was keen on retaining Arnaud Kalimuendo. This was reportedly the reason Evangelos Marinakis blocked his deadline day move back to Germany.
Last month, Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hütter pinned the blame on Marinakis. He also said: “We tried everything. But it didn’t work because of the other side.”
His situation hasn’t improved this season as he played 110 minutes in five matches, and 60 minutes were in the EFL Cup defeat to Leeds United.
Absolut Fussball states the Bundesliga side are prioritising signing a striker and a fullback in January.
Arnaud Kalimuendo remains the top attacking target as Eintracht Frankfurt have ‘never lost sight of the French striker’. The German club have prepared their plan for the winter market, without the outlet providing any further details.
Last month, Markus Krösche stepped down as the German club’s sporting director and could soon join AC Milan, who have already confirmed their interest.
If he joins the Serie A side or another club, Eintracht Frankfurt would receive funds, which can be utilised for signings
Absolut Fussball provides no clarification about Kalimuendo and/or Nottingham Forest’s stance on a move to Frankfurt after this year. There’s belief in Germany that his restricted role would convince him to join his former club.
