Last season was a fluke for the Cats, and we're starting to see evidence of that.
Florida Panthers center Carter Verhaeghe had a historic natural hat trick, center Sam Bennett tallied his first three goals of the campaign, and the boys from Sunrise took out the Seattle Kraken with a dominating 8-3 win Saturday night.
In victories over the Columbus Blue Jackets (Tuesday) and Vancouver Canucks (Thursday), Florida left wing Brady Tkachuk had them.
The Panthers also became just the third team in 30 years to get any kind of hat trick in three straight contests. The 1982 Edmonton Oilers and 1992 Calgary Flames both had runs of four consecutive games with hat tricks, according to NHL Stats.
What we're witnessing right now in South Florida is the evolution of a dynasty.
Writing history like three straight games with natural hat tricks doesn't happen by accident. You're talking about something that requires a lot of chemistry, it doesn't matter who the opponent is. And do you realize how hard it is to obtain that kind of chemistry? And they're doing it with a roster loaded with elite talent?
This is the kind of stuff that you see from teams who either go on to be dynasties, or already are one, and as we know, the Florida Panthers have won two championships in the past three seasons.
I'm just saying, don't be surprised to see them make it three out of four in June.
