Texas A&M's struggles this season have resulted in a 3-3 start and a 1-3 standing in SEC play, as the Aggie offense failed to reach the end zone twice in road losses to LSU and Missouri, primarily due to poor blocking upfront and starting quarterback Marcel Reed's struggles in the pocket.
The Aggie defense has been average to above average, giving the offense plenty of chances to respond during Saturday's 27-6 loss to Missouri, while Texas A&M's special teams unit is by far one of the best in the country, especially transfer kicker David Olano, who has made all nine of his field-goal attempts this season while also converting each of his 19 extra-point attempts.
Senior punter Tyler White has punted 24 times, averaging 50.4 yards per punt, including a 72-yarder this season, and has placed nine kicks inside the 20, solidifying his future as an NFL punter, especially with A&M's offense struggling to sustain drives.
David Olano is the only FBS kicker to his all of his 50-plus-yard attempts, hitting from 57 yards (career high) and 53 yards twice. It's hard not to wonder what Texas A&M could have accomplished last season with Olano's leg, and he will make an impact this season if A&M's offense finds some life.
Both David Olano and Tyler White were named to the AP Midseason All-American Team and will be in the running to win the Ray Guy and Lou Graza awards.
