Tottenham Hotspur’s Under 18s controlled the opening half and created six opportunities without finding the net. Oliver Boast was stopped by a last-ditch tackle inside the opening minute before rattling the crossbar moments later. Conall Glancy impressed in midfield by winning possession high up the pitch and setting up Joel Vidal Philbert, who dragged a shot narrowly wide.
Home goalkeeper Jack Talbot denied Armend Muslika and debutant Kwasi Senyah, while Muslika also fired over when clean through on goal. Tottenham finally broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half when a cross from Vidal Philbert beat Talbot, only for Mylo Bernard to level the score within seconds. Talbot then made two more vital stops, denying Boast from a tight angle and tipping a Muslika free kick over the crossbar.

The game took a chaotic turn in the closing stages after a collision stretchered Talbot off. Replacement goalkeeper Max Lo Presti was also forced off after another challenge. Winger Emerson Nwaneri put on the gloves for the final ten minutes before Arsenal found a late winner through a second goal from Bernard, punishing Tottenham for failing to capitalise on the disruption.
Under-18s coach Jamie Carr admitted his side paid the price for poor execution in both penalty areas.
“I thought the overall performance in the first half was just okay, even though we created all of those chances,” Carr said.
“Second half, I think we actually improved, we got way more control of the game. They struggled to have as much success in possession, which was pleasing for us, and we had a great chance just after half time where we’re through on goal and should score. Our general decision making in and around the goal wasn’t good enough today and, again, we’ve just conceded two poor goals. We’ve spoke to the players. We need to get better at making sure that we keep the ball out of our net.”

Carr emphasised that his squad needs to learn quickly from their missed chances as they progress toward senior football. “The players can learn the value of taking these opportunities. In academy football, you might have six chances a game and if you only take one, it might be no problem because you know you have another one coming but the higher the level you go, the less opportunities you have and we needed to be more ruthless with our decision making.”
