AC Milan learned that individual mistakes can be very costly, losing 3-0 to Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium tonight. As a result, not a single player was given a pass in our ratings.
Individual actions can decide a game, both in positive and negative ways. Sadly, it was the latter for the Rossoneri this evening as they shot themselves in the foot with two penalties given away and a red card received.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.
🥇 Sadly, there was no MOTM in this game.
👎 Maignan (3): What can I say? Putting BOTH hands in the face of the opponent and then pushing him is incredibly silly. I definitely understand the red card, but I also understand those who are saying that there wasn’t too much violent conduct. Either way, he put his team in a difficult spot and for what reason, really?
👔 Amorim (5): I get it, we can question the team selection, but we could be playing incredibly well and still lose with those mistakes (the penalties given away and the red card). That said, knowing it would be a difficult away game, the selection definitely could have been more balanced.
Maignan (2.5): What can I say? Putting BOTH hands in the face of the opponent and then pushing him is incredibly silly. I definitely understand the red card, but I also understand those who are saying that there wasn’t too much violent conduct. Either way, he put his team in a difficult spot and for what reason, really?
Tomori (5.5): I might be missing something but I don’t think he was terrible for most of the game, though a mistake in the second half led to a reckless tackle and a yellow card. He was subbed off almost right after.
De Winter (4): You should never be reaching for the ball inside the box with your arm stretched out like that. Then you’re just looking for trouble. For what it’s worth, there were a lot of clearances from him in the second half, stopping some dangerous crosses.
Pavlovic (4.5): This may sound harsh if you haven’t seen the reply from behind the goal, but take a look at Bournemouth’s third goal. He jumps AWAY from Milan’s wall, leaving a gap between him and De Winter, which is exactly the space that Adli exploited.
Estupinan (4.5): One good block at the start of the game, then disaster pretty much. He got carded after losing a foot battle and was his usual self in possession, as well as in the 1v1s. I struggle to see why Amorim wants to play him.
Moreira (5.5): There was one good run at the start of the second half, and then a nice free-kick cross, but he didn’t add much aside from that. I actually thought his touch was pretty poor, resulting in him losing the ball, and the 1v1 work on the right was far from great.
Jashari (5): I think we are yet to see the things we signed him for throughout one full game. Maybe I’m being extra harsh here, but he wasn’t very convincing on the ball tonight and didn’t impose himself physically. He did run a lot, which was good, but we need him for more than that.
Musah (5): He was too sloppy on the ball, especially in the first half, and failed to make a difference. His touch could have been costly on a few occasions, even if I think he probably improved slightly in the second half.
Loftus-Cheek (4.5): He played? That feels like a question we have asked ourselves way too many times about the Englishman. It probably didn’t help that he basically played as a left midfielder/left-winger, but it was still poor.
Hutchinson (N/A): He tried to drive forward with the ball a few times but failed. He was taken off after the red card, meaning he only got 30 minutes (even less if you count from when the red card was actually handed out). I can’t give him a rating.
Cisse (5.5): It was a tough game for him, but I do think that when he got on the ball, he looked at least a little bit encouraging. I also don’t think his striker movement was terrible, it was more so that Milan barely played the ball to him.
Torriani (5.5): With two goals conceded, even if they were really well taken, and some questionable footwork at times, I can’t give him a pass. Very close to reaching a 6 thanks to his late save on Raya, but yeah.
Bartesaghi (5.5): He had a good cross into the box and looked decent for most of his cameo, but he misjudged a cross and was beaten easily by Raya, nearly giving away a goal as a result.
Rabiot (5.5): As much as I like the French midfielder, I don’t think he added anything of value to the game really.
Diawara (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
Comotto (N/A): I didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
Amorim (5): I get it, we can question the team selection, but we could be playing incredibly well and still lose with those mistakes (the penalties given away and the red card). That said, knowing it would be a difficult away game, the selection definitely could have been more balanced.
