Sometimes, your individual stat line doesn't matter if your team isn't winning games. So far, that's been the story of the season for Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.
After an elbow injury sidelined him for two weeks, Daniels returned to action in Washington's last two games. And while he has performed admirably, it has not been enough to win games. So far, he has 759 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, 213 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Yet as a starter, his record is 0-3-1 so far this year.
That unfortunately puts Daniels in the unique situation of making a little bit of unfortunate history he'd rather not be associated with, despite his individual performance so far. That's because he's just the eighth player in NFL history to open a season with five or more passing touchdowns, two or more rushing touchdowns, and no interceptions in his first four games. But among those names, he's the only one without a winning record in those games.
The Commanders are 1-4-1 overall this season and went 1-1 in games without Daniels under center. But they have a good chance to get their season back on track this weekend, as they come off their bye week and face a vulnerable 2-5 Philadelphia Eagles team missing their starting quarterback for the season on Sunday Night Football.
