Bromley's acting head coach Byron Webster says the departure of manager Andy Woodman last week "hurt" - but backs the club's owner to make the right choice for his replacement.
Webster, who was Woodman's assistant, is in temporary charge of the League One club and oversaw Saturday's 1-1 draw with Peterborough United and Tuesday night's 4-1 loss at MK Dons.
Club owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves is currently leading the search for a replacement, with former Arsenal, Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole among those linked with the vacancy.
Woodman had been in charge of Bromley since 2021, guiding them from the National League to League One.
But the Ravens have found life in the third tier challenging and are in 22nd place, just two points above bottom club Wigan Athletic.
"We were all hurt from the departure of the gaffer," Webster told BBC Radio London.
"But the chairman has always made decisions that thinks have benefited Bromley Football Club and if you look at his track record, he's not done too bad.
"When the gaffer [Woodman] came in, people were questioning it.
"Like I say, we we were surprised [by Woodman's exit] but you're never surprised in football."
