Tarik Muharemovic says Leeds United are playing like an esteemed Premier League club once again, despite his disappointment with Sunday’s draw with Manchester United.
Muharemovic did not stop the Youri Tielemans cross that led to Bryan Mbeumo’s opener on 35 minutes but made up for it by heading down Anton Stach’s corner to assist Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal six minutes after half time.
Speaking to reporters after the 1-1 tie, the Bosnian admitted he had played a role in the first goal but also acknowledged Leeds’ wayward finishing at the other end. He opined: “We did everything we could with good pressure and good pressing.
“We had some good actions as well, but at the end, something was missing to score this goal. Maybe the hunger to finish it.

“Obviously, then we go 1-0 down. Maybe I could also follow the man better. But small things that we have to be awake of and prepared better for next weekend.”
Leeds had 12 shots on goal but just five were on target. Manager Daniel Farke pointed to this after the game but also explained how disappointed the players were after the final whistle, praising the mentality of the squad.
OPINION
Asked whether the dressing room was deflated after the game, Muharemovic, with an air of positivity, replied: “100%. It's just the second week in a row that we go against the Champions League side, and we are disappointed to not get all the three points.
“Arsenal away we know is always hard to play, but the fight until the end to get a point or three points is something I think that was very big.
"And we can be proud to come home to play such a team as Man United; we know how big this game is and how difficult these games are. But we still showed where we are and what we are and what we can do. We just have to keep going.”
Leeds sit seventh after seven games with 10 points on the board - already a quarter of the way towards the initial 40-point aim. Muharemovic explained that he feels Leeds are on the right trajectory to achieve the mission set out on his first day as a Leeds player.
“That's the thing they told me when I arrived here - that we want to battle, especially against ‘them’, and to bring Leeds where it belongs. So we just want to show everyone who we are and where we belong.
“At the end, with being humble, we go step by step, and at the end, I hope we achieve all our goals.”
