Jeremey Hecklinski's second start of the 2026 Iowa football season did not last long.

After leading five total drives against Minnesota, Hecklinski was replaced by Hank Brown. Through nearly two full quarters, Hecklinski was 9-for-16 for 62 yards and one interception. When Brown entered, the game was tied 3-3.

This season, Brown started five games and was 78-for-124 for 832 yards and five touchdowns to just one interception entering the game against the Golden Gophers. On his first drive Saturday, he went 3-for-4 for 15 yards in a drive that ended in a punt.
