The Indianapolis Colts have already started their fire sale, and many around the league have been speculating for weeks that the Los Angeles Chargers could soon follow suit. However, another team that has reason to be sellers before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline is the New York Jets.
They head into the Week 8 NFL schedule with a 2-5 record and no reason to expect a magical turnaround. Plus, they decided to waive the white flag and be sellers last year as well. The decision was the right one because they are set to have three first-round picks in April’s NFL Draft. They sure wouldn’t mind a fourth first-rounder, or something close, and the player that could get them that is wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Furthermore, he admitted this week that he would not be against a trade if it gives him a chance to win more than he has in New York. “I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest, but I am hopeful,” Wilson told Jets media on Wednesday.
With trade rumors already swirling about Wilson, let’s look at six teams that could potentially pursue a deal for the receiver if the Jets start taking offers.
After an exciting 3-0 start to the season, the Las Vegas Raiders have gone into a deep slump. Losing their last four games. Without a doubt, their defense is a problem. If they can’t address those issues before the deadline, bolstering their offense to keep pace in games is a possibility.
While they have some great weapons on offense, they badly need more from their receiving corps. Wilson would be a great addition to the passing game and offer another reliable option for future starting QB Fernando Mendoza in 2027 and beyond.
When Lamar Jackson is healthy, the Baltimore Ravens are a top team in the AFC. While it took some time to find one, the QB also finally has a go-to receiver in two-time Pro Bowler Zay Flowers. However, if they really want to be a serious contender, they could use another good weapon on offense.
The combo of Flowers and Wilson getting passes from Jackson, and Derrick Henry in the backfield, would make Baltimore’s offense one of the toughest to match up with in the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been linked to wide receiver trade rumors for weeks. While their limited options haven’t hurt the 5-1 team much this season, come playoff time, when they are facing the best teams in the conference, it will.
Kansas City hasn’t been a team that gives up valuable draft assets during in-season trades. However, the 26-year-old is right in his prime and is locked into a contract for multiple seasons. With this likely being Travis Kelce’s final season, it would make sense for the Chiefs to go big to get Patrick Mahomes his new No. 1 target in the years ahead, while also bolstering their chances of getting back to the Super Bowl.
When you have, arguably, the best receiver in the NFL (Justin Jefferson), one would assume the Minnesota Vikings have a top-level passing attack. However, while Jefferson has been on the field for much of the season, the Vikings rank near the bottom of the NFL in passing yards per game.
They won’t be able to upgrade the QB spot before the deadline, so getting Kyler Murray more targets makes sense. While having two expensive wide receivers can be a problem, on paper, the idea of Jefferson and Wilson in the same receiver corps should terrify NFC North rivals.
Certainly, Caleb Williams missing games this season has affected the Chicago Bears‘ overall passing numbers. Yet, while their offense has been good since coach Ben Johnson arrived, it hasn’t been the dominant force the Detroit Lions had when he was their offensive coordinator.
Maybe it’s because they don’t have that proven go-to WR1. Wilson would absolutely be that and finally give Williams the true top-shelf pass catcher he hasn’t had during his career.
Usually, 3-4 teams need more time to decide if giving up valuable draft assets before the deadline is really worth it. However, with the NFC South again being wide open, the Atlanta Falcons could look to bolster their team roster for the second half.
While they could use more help on defense, the idea of Michael Penix Jr. leading an offense featuring superstar RB Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Wilson might be very enticing for the Falcons front office in 2026 and beyond.
