5 predictions for Rams vs. Raiders: Big day coming for LA's offense?

When the Los Angeles Rams take on the Las Vegas Raiders, both teams will be putting forth their best efforts in order to end their losing streaks. With so much on the line, here are five predictions for what will happen during the game.

Nacua gets back into the race for the triple crown

Puka Nacua suffered a calf injury this week in practice, and with Davante Adams on injured reserve, the team could be down their top two pass catchers. Nacua is trending toward playing, and when the cards are stacked against him and the franchise, he has historically always come through.

Sunday will be no different as he puts on a statistical display. At least 12 catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns. The Raiders' secondary is suspect, and Nacua always gets his targets.

Mumpfield proves he's ready for the moment

Adams' understudy, Konata Mumpfield, already displayed his skills in a career performance against the Denver Broncos this season, and he should do so again. Stafford has a clear trust in the receiver and has given him opportunities in the past.

The Rams are likely to be setting up a double-move, and I see Mumpfield executing it flawlessly. At least four catches for 50-plus yards and one touchdown.

Kinchens jumps an eager Cousins

Safety Kam Kinchens is an opportunist, and with the Raiders having Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer as their tight ends, the ball should be thrown often to the middle of the field. Kinchens has a knack for making teams pay for testing the middle. He also has a knack for getting burned, so Kinchens can be a real feast-or-famine player, but has grown more consistent over the last year.

Kinchens shows the NFL how good he is, and how much he's improved by intercepting Kirk Cousins. Cousins is known for making pre-snap reads and blind firing footballs into windows. Kinchens should make him pay.

The right Byron Young

There's a longstanding rumor that the Raiders accidentally drafted the wrong Byron Young in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Las Vegas selected a defensive tackle out of Alabama with the same name, with the Rams taking the Tennessee outside linebacker several selections later.

Regardless of what happened, the Rams got the better Young, who blossomed into the team's sack leader last season and earned his first Pro Bowl selection. Young once again dazzles, securing an amazing three sacks. The Raiders are weak at the edge, and Aaron Donald's dominance should naturally set up one-on-one opportunities.

Matthew Stafford, the point guard

Putting on his best John Stockton impression, Stafford, in the absence of Adams, uses his ball distribution skills to hit eight different pass catchers in the game. Sean McVay will have to mix up personnel packages and formations to make up for the loss of the All-Pro, which means the tight ends and running backs should get the targets that can not be thrown to Nacua.

Nacua will still get bombarded, but don't be surprised to see Stafford attack other areas of the field to force the defense to respect his ability to push the ball. Hit them close to set up deeper attacks.
