There are growing concerns around Stamford Bridge that Maxence Lacroix will miss the remainder of the calendar year after sustaining a grade three hamstring tear during Chelsea’s EFL Cup exit against Liverpool earlier in the week.
Ben Jacobs is reporting that Xabi Alonso’s side are concerned that their summer recruit will not be available until the New Year and faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
While the Blues might have struggled to find much Premier League stability since Alonso got his blockbuster tenure underway over the summer, the French international has been a real hit in west London following a £52million move from Crystal Palace.
Limping off in some visible distress moments before the half-time break at Anfield in midweek, the former Real Madrid boss stated on Wednesday that they expect Lacroix would be out for “a few weeks”.
However, Jacobs is now suggesting that the former Crystal Palace star is more likely to miss the next couple of months and might not be seen in domestic action until 2027.
Starting in three of France’s four Nations League showdowns during September’s extended international break, Lacroix has also become an immediate stonewall in Alonso’s defence and has started in all bar one of Chelsea’s first eight Premier League appearances.
BREAKING: Fears Maxence Lacroix is out until the New Year with a hamstring injury.
Sources say Lacroix sustained a grade three tear against Liverpool.
Xabi Alonso said today it will be “a few weeks” until Lacroix is fully fit, but it is not thought Lacroix will be back immediately after the November break.
Although Chelsea are yet to put a definitive timescale on a return, @talkSPORT understands Lacroix is facing at least two months out.🏥
