Rangers defender Tuur Rommens’ return to first-team football appears to have been delayed by yet another health issue.
Rommens was back in full Rangers training a few weeks ago, and everything appeared to be going well for the Belgian as he was recovering from a groin injury.
The 23-year-old has not played for the Light Blues since August, although he did make the bench for their last two Scottish Premiership games; he remained an unused substitute.

Emmanuel Fernandez has been struggling at Rangers this season. What have you made of his performances and what should Derek McInnes do? 🤔
Now, Rommens has faced yet another issue as he is currently ill, having caught the bug that’s been in the squad. The plan was for the left-back to be a part of the behind-closed-doors game between Rangers and Dundee in mid-week, but his illness kept him out of the game.
Derek McInnes, in his pre-match press conference ahead of the St Johnstone game, confirmed Rommens’ situation. Along with the Belgian, one or two first-team regulars remain doubts for Saturday and will only play if they have recovered in time for the game.
The Gers boss will be hoping that James Penrice is not one of them, as that would lead to a crisis at left-back. The Scottish defender has done well in Rommens’ absence, but if he’s not available as well, Ben Godfrey, Dujon Sterling or Emmanuel Fernandez may have to play there.
Ross McCrorie, who is a bit of a Swiss Army knife, is also not available as he’s injured. Had he been fit, he surely would have been an option that McInnes could have considered.
