Winners, losers from Georgia football's 27-8 win over Florida

The Georgia Bulldogs took advantage of Florida Gators turnovers and penalties to cruise to a 27-8 victory in the World's Largest Cocktail Party. Georgia has won six straight games in the series and nine of the last 10 meetings. Coach Kirby Smart is 9-2 against Florida and quarterback Gunner Stockton is 2-0 as the starter against the Gators.

Georgia used an elite defensive performance to shut down Florida. "The Dawgs did not beat the Dawgs," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after the game.

Florida may not be able to say the same thing. The Gators had a ton of turnovers including a couple that were entirely preventable and eight penalties for 78 yards including a roughing the kicker penalty that helped Georgia get on the board with a touchdown.

Winner: Georgia's defense

Georgia's defense was outstanding against Florida. The Bulldogs shutdown Florida running back Jaden Baugh and forced four turnovers. Georgia constantly made plays in the Florida backfield. Most notably, linebacker Chris Cole returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown. Commentator Kirk Herbstreit praised Georgia a bunch throughout the game and thinks the Bulldogs are one of the top national championship contenders.

Loser: Georgia's downfield passing

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton (14) warms up prior to the game against the Florida Gators

Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton rarely pushed the ball down the field against a Florida secondary that is far from elite. Georgia played pretty conservative and did not have to pass much, but still the passing game appears to be a weakness for UGA. Stockton also had a few passes batted down at the line of scrimmage.

Winner: Edge rusher Khamari Brooks

Georgia outside linebacker Khamari Brooks did a great job of setting the edge. Florida's run game really struggled and Brooks was a big factor in that. Brooks finished the day with two tackles for a loss and made a nice bid to earn more snaps.

Loser: Florida's offense

Quarterback Aaron Philo had an ugly interception to set Georgia up early in the game. The Gators finished the day with four turnovers including three interceptions. Florida's offense looked far from being the high-powered unit it was early in the season. The Gators had 28 rushes for 48 yards and a touchdown. That's not going to get the job done in the SEC.

Loser: Kicker Peyton Woodring

Georgia kicker Peyton Woodring missed a 43-yard field goal in the first quarter. Woodring is still a solid kicker, but he's not looking like an All-SEC kicker and has missed a kick in three straight games. Woodring made two of three field goal attempts, but both of his makes were on short kicks.
