Champions League news conferences: Iraola on Frimpong & Szoboszlai; Semenyo latest
Bottom half of Champions League table

A final word from Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on Ronald Araujo's loan signing from Barcelona:

"Ronald was those kinds of situations that probably before the market was not there. We spoke to the player and the first conversation we had with him, it was quite encouraging.

"You see a hungry, experienced player, played at a top club, willing to show his level.

"I asked him straight away, maybe we will need you playing as a right-back. He was ready for everything. Whatever you need.

"He has proven he is ready to help the team and the more he plays, the more he speaks the language and learns from his team-mates, the more we will benefit from his experience.

"Everything has been quite positive with him."

Of course, Enzo Maresca has taken over at Manchester City during an unprecedented time of upheaval at the club off the pitch.

Saturday's win at home to Ipswich was another game that was played where no-one knows what sanctions City will face after being found guilty of breaking the Premier League financial rules.

And while there is doubt over what the final outcome will be, it's hard to know exactly what each individual result means.

But do they have any grounds to win their appeal?

Our Football Issues correspondent, Dale Johnson, has written about their chances.

They face "substantial hurdles" if they are to have any chance of winning their appeal, a leading lawyer has told BBC Sport.

The club have said they are "innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League" and they have "irrefutable evidence" the ruling "contains clear material errors, of law, principle and fact, and is unsafe".

James Severn, Member of the London Solicitor Litigation Association (LSLA) and Partner at Penningtons Manches Cooper, told BBC Sport that they will "face an uphill struggle to demonstrate the finding was materially wrong."

A final word from Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca on whether there is a difference in their form at home and away: "I like to analyse game by game, I think they are all different. I said many times that there are things that we need to improve, probably because at home with Coventry, Ipswich, Sunderland, they are all kind of teams that try to make the game for you difficult in terms of transitions and set pieces and it is something that we need to improve.

"If you analyse the last game against Ipswich, how many chances did we concede? Not many, how many goals? [Other than] the penalty and the goal - I don't remember any clear chances.

"At least you are going to think that you are going to concede something because there is another team that is looking for a chance."

Taking over from Pep Guardiola - 20 trophies during 10 seasons in charge - was always going to be a big challenge for Enzo Maresca.

Seven matches in, City's Premier League record remains flawless.

No points dropped, seven wins out of seven despite falling behind against Bournemouth and playing for more than an hour with 10 men at Manchester United.

"For sure I didn't expect to win seven out of seven," said Maresca. "We are working well and working good.

"I'm very happy especially with the situation in general.

"Today we controlled the game for 95 minutes. We created chances, we scored.

"We finished with a little bit of suffering together but overall, it is good."

Despite the off-field turmoil, this is City's best start to a league season in 129 years.

Only Chelsea in 2005-06 (first nine) and Liverpool in 2019-20 (first eight) have ever won the first seven matches of a Premier League campaign.

Both went on to win the title.

"First of all, I am very happy because it's a matter of winning games in this business," said Maresca after Saturday's 3-2 win at home to Ipswich Town.

"We were able to win seven in a row and what made me very happy was day by day with the players, the way they are working and how I can see them improving."

On his players dealing with the events surrounding the club off the field, Maresca said: "They are not worried about people who judge from outside because they know people are trying to judge them."
